Piedmont strives to provide the most knowledgable and trained staff not only in the Triad area but also in the state of North Carolina. Our Master Coaches & Lead Trainers consists of highly skilled volleyball coaches that all have experience in coaching at the highest level whether that be collegiately or club. Our coaching staff consists of coaches who have multiple years of coaching and playing experience collegiately. We believe this separates Piedmont from the rest with such a highly trained staff from top to bottom!
Kyle Milborn has 20 years experience in volleyball and comes from one the largest volleyball clubs in the country (100+ teams), Club Fusion out of Chicago, IL. During his time at Club Fusion, Kyle trained and helped develop players that went onto to be Collegiate All-Americans, USA Junior National Players and Professional players overseas. He also coached and helped train multiple teams that went onto win several National Tournaments & National Championships. Kyle was also apart of helping lead Club Fusion to be one of the most recruited volleyball clubs in the country for the last 18 years, something he plans to establish within Piedmont Volleyball Club.
In June of 2018, Piedmont hired Justin as the Associate Director. After just his first year with the club, Justin helped bring the club to another level. His knowledge of the game and training ability is accompanied with such a high energy which he brings to the gym every day! Justin will help in the front office and be highly involved with the training model, program design, and communications. His combined 12 years of experience as both a player and coach includes 3 years as a player at Illinois State University, and after Justin graduated, he coached at the high school and college club levels. Justin has coached for Hitmen Volleyball Club, Rampage Volleyball Club, Plainfield Central High School, and at Wheaton College where he served as the Men’s Head Coach.
Ryan joined the Piedmont staff in the Spring of 2018 shortly after he took the Head Coach position at High Point University. Ryan has a big vision for Piedmont and we’re extremely blessed to have him join our staff.

Ariel Newman has been coaching volleyball for 8 years and has over 15 years of experience in volleyball. Ariel has coached in the collegiate ranks for the past 3 years in which 2 of those years have been spent at the NCAA Division 1 level with NC A&T where she currently coaches. As a player Ariel played at UNC-Greensboro where she was a stand out player while there. Ariel grew up in the Piedmont system and saw the training take her to another level with gaining the opportunity to play collegiately.
James brings 11 years of coaching experience to Piedmont VBC. James is in his first season at UNC-Greensboro prior to this year, James also coached at Un. of Virginia, Un. of Buffalo, Northwood University and Lees-McKrae.
Taylor is entering her 2nd year at UNC-Greensboro, prior to this year she was an Assistant Coach at N.C State. Taylor also has experience working with Michigan Elite VBC and NC Academy.
Jill joined the Piedmont Staff in the summer of 2018, we’re extremely excited about adding her to the staff as she brings a wealth of knowledge to our gym from many different facets of the game.

– Four year letter winner at Hendrix College; two time SAA Champion, 2nd team All-Conference in 2012, went to two NCAA Tournaments including the NCAA Final Four in 2015
– Assistant coach at Washburn University in 2016 and 2017, finished ranked #13 in the country during 2016 season
– Head coach of 18 Elite team at Topeka Impact, qualified team for USAV Junior Nationals
Kevin Berger joined the High Point University volleyball program as a volunteer assistant coach in August 2018. Berger previously served as a volunteer assistant at Duqesne for the 2017 season and was an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Association from 2016-17 with the 17s and 18s teams. Berger graduated from Duquesne in 2018 with a degree in finance with a minor in sports marketing.
Jessie enters her 2nd year at Piedmont VBC, Jessie is currently an Assistant Coach at High Point University. Prior to being hired at HPU, Jessie was the Director of Operations at Creighton University (Top 25 program) and served as a volunteer assistant as well.
Catherine returns to Piedmont in 2018 after serving as the assistant coach at Brevard College. With Catherine back in the area, we’re excited to bring her back on staff to coach at Piedmont. Catherine brings a lot of knowledge to our staff and will serve as a head coach along with positional training with an emphasis on middles.
Heather joined our staff in the Spring of 2018 and is looking to get more involved with the 2019-20 season! Heather received a scholarship to play at Ohio State University before transferring to the University of Arkansas.
Heather’s Coaching Experience:
– Assistant coach for Conway Juniors 17s team in 2015 and 2016; Delta Region Champions in 2015, qualified both teams for USAV Junior Nationals
– Assistant coach for Nebraska Premier 16s in 2017 and 2018; both teams qualified for USAV Junior Nationals with 2017 qualifying in Open
Matt Riggs has over 9 years of coaching experience. Matt started a club in Davie County 8 years ago, Davie Dazzle VBC, that quickly grew and he eventually joined forces with Piedmont VBC. Matt was a former NCAA D1 athlete at Wake Forest and has dedicated his time and effort to training young athletes and preparing them for the collegiate level. Matt also will take his experience as a collegiate athlete and as a parent to assist in getting our players recruited as our Recruiting Coordinator.
Kelsey Williams a former UNC-Greensboro volleyball player with Kellie Orewiler & Ariel Newman has been involved with volleyball for 10+ years both as a player and coach. From a coaching stand point, Kelsey spent 4 years with Team Momentum (St. Louis) and plus coached 2 years at Greensboro Day School. In 2016, Kelsey coached Piedmont’s 14 Elite team and is entering into her 6th year of coaching.
Meredith brings 6 years of coaching experience to Piedmont VBC. Meredith spent 3 years coaching collegiately at Catawba College and additionally has coached at Piedmont for 5 years.
Kellie is entering her 5th season at Piedmont VBC but brings 13 years of experience to the gym. Kellie played club in Ohio where she earned a scholarship to play at UNC-Greensboro. Kellie has coached some of the top athletes in the Triad area over the course of her 5 year coaching career with Piedmont VBC.
Kevin has spent the past 12 years coaching volleyball including 4 years at Greensboro College. Kevin also played at Pfeiffer University and then at VCU. Along with with 4 years in the collegiate coaching world, Kevin also has been coaching club for 7 years.
Ellen Fay enters her 3rd season as a club coach with Piedmont VBC. Before her time at Piedmont, Ellen coached at Blackswamp VBC (Ohio) for 3 years, who’s very well known for training especially in the younger ages. Overall Ellen brings 6 years of experience to the Piedmont staff.
Sara joins the Piedmont staff this year as she just moved to the area. Prior to joining Piedmont, Sara coached for 2 years at the junior national level for the nationally known club, Texas Tornados, in Houston, Texas. In addition to her experience at Texas Tornados, Sara spent 2 years coaching club at Rapid Spikers in Iowa.
Kerry began coaching at Piedmont in 2008 and has been heavily involved with our National teams with an emphasis on Middle’s training. As a player Kerry played collegiately at Furman and brings her experience as a NCAA Division 1 athlete to all our athletes. Currently Kerry is the head volleyball coach at Randleman High School.
Piedmont is extremely excited about the addition of Brad to the staff. Brad brings a wealth of knowledge to our gym with strength & agility training with an emphasis in volleyball specific training as a former coach. Brad graduated from Wake Forest, where he was a NCAA Division 1 baseball player with a degree in Health & Sports Sciences. Brad also completed his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. On top of that he has 10 years of Personal Training experience including 6 years of strength, stretching, injury prevention & rehab for athletes who underwent physical therapy or Surgery (WFU Health & Strokes Reynolds Hospital). Brad has 5 years of volleyball coaching experience at Davie Dazzles with Matt Riggs, Reagan High School, OLM and Piedmont VBC.
Rusty is going into his 2nd season with Piedmont VBC but carries with him 23 years of coaching and playing experience. Rusty spent time at Liberty University working with both men’s and women’s programs. Rusty also brings experience on the outdoor game and we’re super excited to bring him onboard with our Beach program this year.
Katie Doering who’s a Right Side for High Point University enters her 2nd season at Piedmont this year. Katie brings 4 years of coaching experience to the staff this year. Katie spent last year coaching at Piedmont with the Regional, Zonal and National level players. Prior to last year she coached 2 years coaching at A5 and an additional year with Cobb Atlanta. Katie also will be involved with our Beach program and brings a wealth of knowledge to our club.
Jordan is a Middle Blocker at High Point University and has 10+ years of playing and coaching experience. She most recently coached at the YMCA and Piedmont is very lucky to have her while bringing a high level of energy and knowledge to our gym.
Tresia enters into her 2nd year with Piedmont, last year Tresia served as a 12’s coach. In 2017-18, Tresia will run our 12’s program after a very impressive 2016-17 season. Tresia played collegiately and coached club in Virginia, she’s also married to Rusty Zarger our 16 Navy Head Coach and has 2 daughters in our program.
Also new to Piedmont this year is Breanna Banske! Breanna recently relocated to the area and will be joining Piedmont with experience both as a player and a coach. Breanna attended Hunter College in New York City where she helped to lead her team to 2 CUNY Championships and 2 NCAA Tournament appearances as a starter and team captain. Breanna has also coached for middle school teams in her home town.
Heather joins the Piedmont coaching staff this year with a combined 14 years of expereince as a player and a coach. She played at Campbell University and after college, continued her love for volleyball as the Varsity Coach at the North Carolina Leadership Academy where she was named Conference Coach-Of-The-Year in 2017 after 2 undefeated seasons.
