Piedmont gives back through book drive

We’ve been notified of a wonderful opportunity to support a local effort to collect books as part of a drive by the North Carolina Council of Educational Opportunity Programs. This organization provides services that prepare students for post-secondary education and facilitates institutional responses to the challenge of serving more diverse populations.

We will be collecting new or gently used books for children ages birth through Grade 5, as well as crayons, pencils, letter blocks, letter/number fridge magnets, small notebooks or composition notebooks. This is in support of a literacy drive benefitting Smart Start Rowan.

So please have your players bring their donations throughout the month to practice. We will continue collecting through February 28 and then get our donations to the organization.

*Winston-Salem families: Since we do not have a closet where we can lock up donations after each practice, we ask that a parent volunteer from M/W and T/Th practice offer to collect and hold on to donations until the end of the month. If you can do this, please email Kyle to let him know, and he can notify the other Winston families – thanks!
